Release Notes on HiJaak PRO 4.0

This document includes information about HiJaak PRO that was not available at the time
the HiJaak PRO User Guide was printed. You will find information on compatibility 
with previous versions, undocumented features, and known bugs in this release.

Installing to Removable Media
====================================
We highly recommend that you do not attempt to install HiJaak PRO to any removable
media. Testing has shown that HiJaak PRO will perform unpredictably when installed
to removable media.

Compatibility with Previous Versions
====================================
HiJaak Graphics Suite 3.0
-------------------------
HiJaak Graphics Suite 3.0 was designed to run under Windows 3.1; HiJaak PRO is 
designed to run under Windows 95. Due to these design differences, these programs
are not compatible. We recommend that you uninstall HiJaak Graphics Suite 3.0 
before installing HiJaak PRO, or at least install HiJaak PRO in a different 
directory.

If you need the image editing applications included with HiJaak Graphics Suite 3.0 and
don't want to uninstall it, but do want to upgrade to Windows 95, consider purchasing
HiJaak Graphics Suite 95. Call Customer Service at 1-800-683-6866 for information
on the available HiJaak products.

HiJaak 95
---------
HiJaak 95 is a subset of HiJaak PRO. If you are currently running HiJaak 95, we 
recommend that you uninstall HiJaak 95 before you install HiJaak PRO. You will not 
lose any functionality, but you will gain product stability.

HiJaak Graphics Suite 95
------------------------
If you are currently running HiJaak Graphics Suite 95, we recommend that you install
HiJaak PRO in a different directory from HiJaak Graphics Suite 95. HiJaak PRO will
take over the former functions of HiJaak 95, including convert, view, trace, catalogs,
thumbnails and shell extensions. 

To switch between HiJaak Graphics Suite 95 and HiJaak PRO, run their respective setup
programs. If you run HiJaak PRO Setup, HiJaak Graphics Suite 95 may not function
properly. If you run HiJaak Graphics Suite 95 Setup, HiJaak PRO may not function 
properly. 

Note that if you uninstall HiJaak Graphics Suite 95 after installing HiJaak PRO in 
a different directory, HiJaak PRO may not be able to recognize your HiJaak PRO catalogs
right away. If this happens, run HiJaak Catalog Setup and click the Catalogs List 
button in the Catalogs tab. In the Catalogs List dialog box, click the Find Catalogs
button. The Browse for Folder dialog box displays. Select the 
C:\Program Files\HJPRO\Catalog Folder and click OK. HiJaak PRO will now be able 
to use all catalogs created with HiJaak PRO again.

Undocumented Features
=====================
After the HiJaak PRO User Guide was printed, the following features were added to 
HiJaak PRO to increase stability and usability. They are described here and in the 
HiJaak PRO online help.

HiJaak Catalog Setup
--------------------
1) You can access any page in the HiJaak Catalog Setup by clicking the secondary 
mouse button on the shell center icon in the task tray (traffic light) and selecting
the page you want from the pop-up menu.

2) You can disable all shell extensions, including thumbnails, catalogs, shortcut 
menu items and HiJaak Catalog Find by deselecting the Enable HiJaak Shell Extensions
check box in the Setup tab of HiJaak Catalog Setup.

Known Bugs
==========
The following is a list of known bugs in HiJaak PRO. Fixes will be made available
shortly. Call Quarterdeck Customer Service 1-800-683-6866 for more information.

1) The 3D Perspective option has no effect on the image.

2) HiJaak thumbnails do not display in Small Icon or Details mode. (no fix is planned)
